The Closer Report: June 25, 2010
SAVES: Brian Wilson (21), Heath Bell (20), Matt Lindstrom (18), Joakim Soria (18), Francisco Rodriguez (17), Billy Wagner (15), Manny Corpas (10)

Tonight there were two Francisco Rodriguez's pitched today, but only one mattered to the closer report. Big daddy KROD scored his 17th save of the season and did it in the nature way he normally does. He gave up a pair of hits before retiring the side and securing the 5-2 win. Rodriguez always enjoys the drama and with the tying run at the plate struck out Jason Kubel and got Young to fly out.
Keeping on the east coast, another NL West closer hit 20 saves in Heath Bell. He secured Clayton Richard's shutout by striking out two, while keeping it cute with a couple of base runners.
Joakim Soria kept pace with the top closers scoring his 18th save of the season with a 4-2 win over the Cardinals. I just bet Soria feels the power of the Missouri RIVALRY. He pitched a near perfect inning (giving up a hit), needing only 15 pitches to end the night for his interstate rivals. Just south of this medieval rivalry, The Texas teams were hammering out their differences and the Astros ended the Rangers 11-game winning streak and it all ended at the hands of Mat Lindstrom. He got his 18th save of season and though the Rangers worked him for 19 pitches, he pitched a perfect inning.
In Colorado, after blowing a seventh inning save last night, Corpas got the late inning save tonight over the Angels. He entered the game with a runner on and took down the Angels with only a walk.
