Sorry I missed the podcast on July 4th, but like all of you I was celebrating my countries birthday. USA! USA! USA!.
OK, not allot of saves on the market today, but there were some interesting ones. Matt Capps finally lost his league lead in saves to fellow NL closer Francisco Cordero and American League closer Joakim Soria. Francisco Corder scored his 23th save of the season against the Mets in a 8-6 win. While the stud closer needed 20 pitches to dispose of the Mets, he did walk away with only a walk and a big save. Joakim Soria got a tenth inning save, securing a big win over the Mariners 6-4. While he put a few runners on, Soria struck out two and now has his ERA sitting below 2.50.

Rafael Soriano kept pace with his 22nd save of the season over the rival Red Sox. Soriano and the Rays beat the Red Sox 6-5 and Soriano had no issues with the Red Sox, only giving up a broken bat hit in the four batters he faced. Soriano was snubbed for the All-Star team and that was bull. Soriano is 22/23 in saves and has been the most consistent closer in baseball. His only blown save was because of a Evan Longoria error, he's been that good.
Marino Rivera continued to roll getting the save over the Athletics 3-1. He faced the minimum number of batters and needed just 10 pitches to earn his 19th save of the season. Its been a rough last week for Leo Nunez, but he is back on the road to recovery. After blowing two straight save chances, he got his second save with a perfect inning over the Dodgers 6-5.
In the extra inning affair between Seattle and the Royals, both closers did their work. Neither Aardsma or Soria
